Senior Shared Curriculum

All five campuses of the Northern Beaches Secondary College (NBSC) have a senior school, with enrolments in Years 11 and 12. The NBSC offers a full range of study areas in the senior years, matching individual abilities, interests and goals. Students from the five campuses of the college can choose from HSC courses delivered on their home campus, on a host campus or on a TAFE NSW site. In addition, they may be able to access a range of first year university courses delivered by the University of Technology Sydney (UTS).

A full range of Board Developed Courses (BDCs) is offered, including languages at both beginners and continuers level, all eight VET Frameworks, and a number of Extension courses. A large range of Board Endorsed Courses (BECs) are available, delivered both at school and TAFE sites.

The NBSC Year 11 Curriculum grid shows the subjects currently operating on all five campuses of the College and the Northern Sydney Institute TAFE sites. Courses that can be accessed by students from other campuses are indicated in BOLD UPPER CASE. Year 11 students must select a minimum of 12 units and may drop to 10 units in Year 12.

Details of requirements for the HSC, a list of courses offered and a description of all subjects, can be found in the Senior Studies Guide. This is a 73 page document, so it may take some time to download.

The Career Planning Guide is intended to guide students in their subject choice, by suggesting subjects and subject combinations that are compatible with broad career areas and indicating pathways to careers.

The current 2010 - 2011 Senior Studies Guide and Career Planning Guide is available here to download.
